September

The days seem long, but the months fly by. I can not believe it is half-way through October, and I have not even updated for September. Oh, Blog, once again, I will try and do better.

September: began with my 33 birthday. The family and I headed to "the lake" to celebrate.



Unfortunately, the accommodations, amenities, and things to do weren't all we had hoped, but it surely did provide memories. Memories of needles, May flies, and never returning to "Dingle Pond Road."



Charleston sure looked good on Sunday morning when we returned home to a festively decorated home (thanks Mom and Dad). We had a delicious dinner of fondue and Ginny surprised me with an xBox Kinect so the evening was spent playing!

In September, Remley started gymnastics at Charleston Gymnastics Center and shes doing great. She has "dot days" where she earns a dot based on the skills she has accomplished and her chart is filling right up! She has worked up to a wall handstand can do a forward roll on the floor beam.

Rhett has started soccer and LOVES practice, just not the games so much. He was so excited to start in the first game, but as soon as the other team took the ball from him, he ran crying off the field to Mommy. Bittersweet. Its taken two weeks, but he has progressed to at least standing on the field with his team! One of these days #6 is going to score his first goal! Our blue team still remains undefeated, thanks to its other 3 members, mainly Pablo!




September was filled with birthday parties, play dates, and more birthday parties. Seems October will be the same!

August

School has been back in for several weeks now, which means we have been busy having fun on the weekends. We traveled to Myrtle Beach for 3 nights with friends Lacey, Mickey and Jameson and Michael Antley. Thanks for having us! The days were spent pool/beach/beach/pool...and the kids had a ball. We returned home for Remley's haircut....





and just in time to start tracking Hurricane Irene, the kids "first." Thankfully, she stayed far off the coast and we only had minimal wind and even less rain. She did bring beautiful rainbow though! This picture shows the maximum sustained winds - check the palm trees in the background.


This weekend we had a "hurricane party" with the Becketts and some other neighbors....


And Cannon turned THREE!!
His birthday party was at the fire station - a beautiful, sunny day.



The fireman let them play on all of the trucks, took them for a tour and showed them where they eat and sleep, then climbed to the top of a 10 story ladder, and let them each take a turn spraying the hose. Happy Birthday Cannon!

Back to school, Already?!

After a weeks vacation, it was time to go back to school~! The kids both started new classes today, with Remley in the big Transitional Kindergarten class and Rhett in the class of 3's. Remley came home exhausted, but excited about her first "homework assignment." Luckily, it is only filling a brown bag she decorated with 3 of her favorite things for show and tell. Pretty easy for most, but she's showing signs of being like the other women in her family, and having a hard time making up her mind :)

While Rhett said he had a good day, he did say he missed Truman and Elliott:(

Edisto Beach 2011

We just returned from a fabulous week in Edisto Beach, with Mimi, Mikey, Aunt Jamie, Uncle Eric, Cally and Cannon.
The days were spent on the beach, swimming in the many pools, riding bikes, and playing playing playing with our cousins. I am proud to report both Remley and Rhett grew fins and both are bona fide swimmers now!

Oh, Blog. I am so sorry I have neglected you. I promise to try and do better...
Ok, so a lot has happened since my last post.. almost two months ago!
Remley participate in her first dance recital, which was held at the Gaillard Auditorium on Father's Day. It was amazing! Her dance studio did a great job at mixing it up, with all age and talent levels. Thanks to Mimi for the roses to celebrate.





The month of July was filled with lots and lots of visitors! But, I am sorry to report I did not take many pictures :(

The week before the fourth - cousins Brandon, Justin, Joelle, Leanne and Chris came to town. The boys went fishing and we celebrated Bubby's birthday (he flew home).. good times!

Our friends Ben and Alecia Hammond came to town the following weekend. We boated and had beached and spent one night at the marsh house (for fireworks!!). It was a great time, minus an afternoon spent in the ER vet (for us) and 3 nights for poor Truman, who ingested too much salt water. He's ok now, but I am sad to report his boat and beach days are over.





The fourth of July was spent with friends Dan and Alison and their children, Frank and GiGi. Lots and lots more fireworks!




Remley took art lessons the month of July and made lots of special pictures.

We also had a visit from friends Lauren and Andy Whitfield and their daughter, Beau.

And finally, our last visitors in July were friends Season and Jason Flowe, who fortunately took at least one picture of the weekend.


Ok, I hope I did not forget too much.. but on to August!

Make New Friends... But Keep the Old

Last month, the kids "graduated" from their preschool classes, and Remley said goodbye to some good friends that are kindergarten bound. A special end of the year party brought tears to the eyes and reminded me (and others) how quickly our little ones grow up! Hard to believe that will be her next year :( The children each sang songs they had practiced, and Remley's selections included "Make new friends, but keep the old, one is silver and the other gold." While we look forward to new friends and memories to come, each day is surely a "present" to be treasured.

Speaking of old friends, we finally paid our good ole friend Charlie a visit, as we have not seen him since last season! Charlie the Riverdog is the local baseball team mascot and both the kids are quite taken by him, especially Rhett. Of course one stuffed creature has similar friends, so we also ran into Dora and Boots and the Piggly Wiggly Pig. This was the first time we made it to the 7th inning stretch, although sadly the Riverdogs were not victorious this game. Summertime down on the Ashley at the Joe, the Dog Days of Summer are Here!!
