Myrtle Beach 2013

Our yearly Johnson/Johnson/DeMoura family vacation this year was spent in Myrtle Beach, instead of the usual Edisto. I think we all enjoyed the spectacular view of the ocean from our room!

Beach Buddies

We happened to make it into town in time to see cousin Peyson dance in the finalist competition at the convention center. What a special treat it was so see her as well as all of the other performers. Her group came in 2nd overall. Go Peyson!
Dance!
The resort offered 3 beautiful pools and two lazy rivers just in our building alone and was in a complex of 5 that we had access to. Daily choices were hard deciding on which pool, beach, which pool and in what order!
Infinity Edge anyone?
Boogie Boards!
Aunt Jame & Vera
Cally & Remley enjoying a tidal pool
We also made a day trip to the aquarium were we rode the moving sidewalk through a tunnel of shark, stingrays, and more sharks!
Jaws
And even caught site of some mermaids....!

And of course, there were many ice cream cones through out the week...
Ben & Jerry's
The boys were too cute all week and lots of people asked if they were twins. Course, I am guessing their outfit had something to do with that!
Twins!
Well, twins from behind, at least!
Where's Remley?

Other highlights from the week include dinner at The House of Blues, Cally singing at Barefoot Landing, and hanging with Easley folks that happened to be there.

We certainly enjoyed every day with our super fabulous family. Oh yes, Vera WAS actually there as was Mikey - who so graciously watched her so we could have beach fun! After the first 100 mouthfuls of sand, we decided that was best! She was busy learning to crawl around the condo, just like the newest addition.. two hermit crabs, Shelley and Joesph.

VBS

The kids just finished up a week of vacation bible school at St James. The theme was high seas expedition and the kids had so much fun making sea based snacks and crafts and learning more about God. Friends Sam and Bella were there as well. They had a cute performance at the end and sang the songs they learned. The camp was in the morning which left plenty of time each afternoon for swimming with friends and playing jn the hood! Now, it's off to the beach!

Bum hearts

So apparently if you have on a wet bathing suit and sit for long enough on concrete, you can make a "bum heart." Totally cute (sorta)- definitely "bum heart" these kids!!

Lake!

This past weekend, we took a trip to Denver, NC to spend time with old friends. Wait! Friends I have had for a long time. We are NOT old!We spent one afternoon on Baygent's beach with friends Season and Jason and their two boys Brighton and "new" baby Baylor. Baylor is three months older than Vera so it was fun to see the two babies together. Although somehow we did not get a good picture of them :(. Saturday Alecia, Jake, Mickey, Lacey, Jameson and Micheal joined us and we spent the day on the lake. The skies were mostly overcast but we were thankful we did not get rained on and made the best of it. Course, its always a good time when we are all together. Thank you to our gracious hosts and a double special shout out to our fantastic neighbors Joey & Janet Beckett that are kind enough to care for Truman while we are away, allowing us to do all of these fun things!

Happy 4th of July!

The children returned from their time with MiMi and Mikey just in time for us to head out to the Yorktown to celebrate the 4th of July. We parked ourselves underneath of the wing of a small plane on the flight deck and settled in to enjoy a spectacular view of the fireworks. It was a great show, but a very late night for all of us!

M&M w R&R

After we enjoyed our time in the mountains, David and I headed back to town with just Vera and let the children spend a few days with MiMi and Mikey (M&M w R&R). They enjoyed the children's museum, the movies and other fun things together. Sadly, Mikey's band performance got rained out so they were all dressed up with no place to go! The kids had a great time but it sure was quiet in our house with out them!
