Frozen Halloween

This year, Vera wanted to be Elsa for Halloween. Since that idea wasn’t as original as her mother may have liked, a little creative tweaking and a whole lot of big kid (Remley and Rhett) bribing, and we at least got the zombie Frozen family picture! I do have to admit, the older kids changed promptly after the photo session!

Summer 2017

This summer was a blast! We started with a trip to Disney World, the first one lil V can remember. We stayed a week in Florida and had so much fun!

Summer (part 1) 2016

It was called to my attention that I have not blogged in about a year. I wish I could recap it all, but I will take the manageable attempt and start with this summer. Remley finished 3rd grade with almost all A's for the year (all semesters just one B) and Rhett did well in 2nd (no real grades til next year!). We started the summer with a Big Bang and it really hasn't stopped yet! R & R headed off to Camp Kanuga for their second year of 9 night camp.

Mom and Dad flew to California to celebrate 10 years! We had a direct flight from Charlotte so got to spend time with the gracious Mawshewke's pre and post our trip and see their beautiful baby
girl!
California was a blast! We started our adventure in San Francisco, where we fell  in love with the Bay Area. Many adventures ensued during our exploration such as Lombard Street, Fishermans Wharf, journeys through Chinatown and Union Square, and my personal favorite day, an 18 mile bike ride over the Golden Gate Bridge, into Salisito, up and around winding hills into Tiburon. Luckily, we were able to ferry back past Alcatraz and ended with a festival in Haight-Ashbury.

Next, we headed north on Hwy 1 to Muir Forest - amazing!
We continued to enjoy the scenery on the Pacific Coast Hwy as we made our way into wine country. After spending 2 nights in Sonoma and 1 in Napa, we headed back to the East Coast. It was a trip of a lifetime!

The Year of the Willow

Nine years married to my best friend! I'm one lucky girl. This year's theme was willow.. Fun right? I struggled to do much with that. I did learn a bit researching the willow-

Acetylsalicylic acid is one of the most widely used drugs in the world. Its ancestry the salicylates, including salicin and salicylic acid, are found in the bark and leaves of the willow and poplar trees.

So David got aspirin and a braided willow branch to bind him to me forever!

I also took him stand up paddle boarding in the harbor and we had drinks rooftop and a lovely dinner! He was a great sport and I had no idea that he would be diagnosed with bronchitis the very next morning. Good thing he had that aspirin!

Funny, the theme of next year the big TEN is TIN!

Rhett's Amazing Race

For my only son's 7th birthday, I threw myself into a giant project planning an amazing race for all of the neighborhood kids. They were split into 5 color coded teams and had many clues which led them to challenges all around the island. Coming up with the cryptic but not too hard clues, fun challenges, bridging the wide range ages of kids, planning the logistics and stuffing all of the envelopes was a lot more work than I had imagined but it was SO FUN and the kids LOVED it!
Rhett just so happened to be on the winning team!

The winners of the Headquarters Amazing Race received a "million dollars" in a head" full of "quarters" (all chocolate!), of course.

Happy birthday to my Amazing son!

GG and Remley made Rhett a minecraft quilt! Pretty cool-

Summer 2015

Oh summer! I can't believe you are more than half over. We have been busy at the beach, boating and hanging by the pool.
Remley and I both got summer hairdos!
As well as Lucky!

I guess we have been having so much fun that I forgot all about blogging! We started the summer with a trip to the Upstate where we spent a few days with Mimi and Mikey. We found a sliding rock nearby, hiked, and visited with old friends.

Next, we all traveled to the Smoky Mountains. Our resort had three waterparks with slides like I have never seen.

We also took Remley and Rhett zip lining and rafting.
And caught our own trout for dinner! It was a long drive home but a great trip!
After a few weeks at home, the kids returned to the mountains where we all celebrated the 4th of July and the kids stayed for a week of horseback riding camp. They really enjoyed it and plan to go back!

In other news, little Vera has really grown up! She's in a big girl bed, potty trained and really hanging with the big kids! Remley takes care of her every chance she gets so that is a HUGE help!
Sweet sisters!
