Great Uncle Timmy

This weekend we had a welcome visit from the Great Uncle Timmy! Of course the kids had fun playing with him, as I think he's still a kid at heart:).

Since little Vera did not attend the prom, I thought I would post some recent pictures of her.

Prom!

Rhett's preschool hosted a family PROM! It was held in the Captain's Room at Bohicket Marina. The theme was "under the sea" and it had lovely views of the water. The kids had so much fun and it was definitely my best prom experience!

My Dog Needs a Jacket

My husband took Truman to the groomer. Remley tagged along to play "littlest pet shop" since David had to stay to help the groomer (another story). Anyway, just like a man to want to get his money's worth because the is how my pooch came home. He looks cold to me!

Take me out to the Ballgame

Spring is here! Let's see, runny noses and itchy eyes, yellow pollen galore, oh yeah, Baseball games and warm weather... gnats...I'd take the sunshine any day though!

Rhett had his first baseball game last Tuesday. I am sorry these pictures aren't better (assuredly more are to come!) Rhett is a true "outlier" - one of the oldest on his team (the birthday cut off is May 1 so he barely missed it last year). As such, he is a star player - assuming his role on the pitchers mound, and stopping every ball coming his way! He politely waits for the first baseman to realize he is about to be thrown a ball before he wings it perfectly to him. Such a thoughtful player:)

In more baseball news, we went to our first Riverdogs game this past Sunday..boiled peanuts, hot dogs, cotton candy and of course Charlie the Riverdog!

We also went to the Sea and Sand Festival with MiMi this weekend at Folly Beach- played some games, walked the streets, and had an enjoyable lunch.

In other news, Vera has started rolling over. I kept waiting until I got pictures documenting the event, but its been two weeks and I still haven't so I figured I better write it down! March 31 - 3 months 19 days.

This weekend. we  also found a baby turtle in our neighbor's pool. The kids had fun making him a home and taking care of him. He was just a "weekend guest" and has hopefully found his way back to his happy home in the wild.

We have big plans this coming weekend with the Island School prom hosted by Rhett's school. Its a family event so I got to take Remley dress shopping for the special event. Let's just say we did not agree on dresses, but it was fun seeing her so excited. Stay tuned to see which fabulous dress was the winner!

My oh My. Choices, choices.

Freeze Frame!

My adorable son Rhett has recently learned to use the remote control. With DVRs and the such, this next comment came as no surprise but made me smile nonetheless!
Mother and son were enjoying the weather and some good conversation. We were having a great time just sitting and talking to each other (you people with boys know sitting is rare!) We played rhyming games, identified shapes in the clouds and then began discussing his upcoming birthday. We took a quick break to go inside and get Popsicles then returned to our respective positions. Rhett gets comfortable once again then says to me," OK Mom, where were we PAUSED?"
Ah, Rhett!... If only....!

He obviously realized how cunning he was..
Fast forward (ha) a few days later, and I suggested another Popsicle. As we sat down, my little ham says "ok now once again, where were we paused"
Kid knows what he's doing! Heaven help us :)

Spring Break

Ah, spring break finally arrived! Sadly, the spring weather was not... We made the best of it though and by the end of the week, warmer weather showed up! Here is a recap...

Spring Break Day 1
We took the kids to the Family Circle Cup on Daniel Island. We watched some tennis and had a fun time. Afterwards, we met one of my coworkers Tomas and his kids, Grey and Gail, at a nearby playground.

Spring Break Day 2: Charleston Explorers
The Charleston Visitors Bureau has started a new program to promote sight seeing for locals. The kids get backpacks and passports and are encouraged to visit different places around the low country where they receive a passport stamp and work their way up various levels to finally become an Elite Explorer.

The Explorers
Our first stop was Patriots Point for a tour of the Yorktown. Did I mention this is a naval aircraft carrier with 7 flights of winding, steep, staircases and is not wheelchair accessible? This also means there is no place for strollers. Did I also mention everyone in the Southeast was on Spring Break as well, also touring this ship in gale force winds? Regardless, we came, we saw and we got our first stamp!

Remley "took" Rhett and I (and Vera!) to lunch, using her Pizza Hut vouchers she has been earning for all her reading!

Afterwards, we traveled to Charlestowne landing where we met friends Carmen and Matson. We visited the animal forest and the tall ship and earned another stamp for our passport. We all met up for an early bird dinner at the Japanese steak house and ended a very busy day.

Spring Break Day 3
After all that fun, day three was spent relaxing!

Spring Break Day 4
The kids and I helped Dad "work" and delivered some metal parts. Then, we traveled to the Convention Center for the Bridge Run expo where we picked up our race packets and enoyed seeing all of the exhibits

Spring Break Day 5
Race day! The kids excitedly spent the day at "camp" at MUSC, where they played tennis, basketball, and went swimming. Next, it was off to Hampton Park for more fun at the kids race. There was lots to do besides run, such as obstacle courses, jump castles, face painting, rock wall, and even a mechanical bull! I was very proud of both of my little runners, who earned a medal!
Cooper River Bridge Run 2013
The following day, David and I completed the Bridge run - phew. We "got over it"! (Shayna : 1:00 03 and David 1:04 44)
While our little staycation was lots of fun, it's been a long week!
